Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Writing FX and Rates market updates for clients on a weekly basis (G7 countries)
Pricing Cross-Currency Swaps and Interest Rate Swaps through internal stochastic tools
Computing HSBC's Credit Charges on Excel
Communicating indicative pricing with clients, pitching potential hedging ideas (PowerPoint presentations)
Reviewing historical deal pipeline and forecasting industry trends

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Was able to communicate with senior parties across HSCB (DCM and ECM alike)
Was involved in pricing and pitching directly to clients
Wrote a market update on my second day which ended up being sent to a prospective client to help them evaluate the current state of the long-ended Gilt market
