Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The programme consisted of three days of interactive and insightful sessions about the firm's values & strategy, view on the future of the legal industry and tech, pro-bono, commercial awareness, CV& application advise and skills, and networking opportunities with the firm's most senior officials. During day 2, we participated in a litigation workshop where different groups took different roles, varying from commercial awareness team, contract reviewers team, negotiation team and mediation team.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was inspiring to hear from many people from different positions working at the firm and how everyone was extremely passionate about their job. The insight provided me with an understanding of how DLA's aim is not only to be a law firm but a busniness law firm that can provide more than just legal advise to its clients.

improved on my communication skills when talking to people who work at the firm and especially during questions time. I have also learned relevant skills during the litigation workshop such as attention to detail when reviewing the contract, critical thinking, and working efficiently within a team

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The firm's culture seemed very freindly, enthusiastic and genuine. Everyone was approachable and informal. Incredibly supportive environment.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DLA Piper
Research the firm carefully and read about what the firm is currently working on. Start building on your commercial awareness skills as it will come relevant when filling out the application. Have lots of questions to ask and don't be shy to ask them as this will show that you have a keen interest in the firm and the job as a whole.
