Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Currently I am with the IPComms team within BT, although this will change as the apprenticeship progresses. I currently deal with issues that customers have had with their systems that have gone through our first line team and need a bit more help.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Every day is a lot of fun you will learn a few new things every day and work with great people.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes we have leant a lot of new skills and sharpened our existing skills. Learning the job while actually doing it is far superior to learning in a class room. Apprentices also seem to get higher grades while only being in education 3 weeks a year.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well organised. We have key skills we need to hit as part of our program BT have produced a list of which departments will cover which skill so at the end of the 4 years you will have covered them all.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
A great amount we get one full day a week to focus on our Uni work and multiple times during the rest of the week I am able to take myself off for an hour or two just to make sure I am on top of any extra work that has been set. This is encouraged.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
A good amount we can always message our tutors and see them on a weekly basis.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It gives us the theory that we can then try and use in practice at our job. This is my first year so I am not too far along yet but the Networking course gave me a better understanding on how traffic passes through the platform I work on at BT
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes a lot! Drinks, gaming tournaments, pool competitions and lots of industry lectures.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BT Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
My sister recommended them to me as she worked there and had nothing but good things to say about them. I have also found my time to be excellent there.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
Keep applying they take on new apprentices every year and if you intend to get a degree doing it any other way leads you to debt! As someone who is a bit older and has done Uni before this is a far better way to go about it!
