Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role involves producing engineering drawings from complex 3D models and assemblies. These drawings are assembly drawings, manufacture drawings and circuit diagrams.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoyed my apprenticeship, I got to work on a wide variety of projects and also work independently where I got to really develop my skills. My colleagues are always happy to help and give me advice when needed.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I learnt how to use CAD software such as, Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD and developed my Microsoft software skills such as Word & Excel.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I did not have a great structure to begin with, but they have now implemented a placement scheme and spent time improving the organisation. In the end the structure was good and I was able to work with different departments, with minimal time without work to complete.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My employer gave me a lot of support and I never felt that I could not raise anything to them. My managers always supported me either with work or help with my qualification.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
My lecturers were helpful and would get back to me in a timely manner. but the assessors let the college down as they do not communicate well enough or know exactly what is needed from me, which led to frustrating situations.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It allows me to complete my job to a better standard and contribute more as I now know more about electrical design and engineering in general. My qualification also gives me the opportunity to further develop my skills and apply for further education.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are social activities but they are organised independently by the employees not by the company. The company do have several networks such as the womens network and the LGBT network.
