Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The insight involved sessions which explained in more depth the divisions within Deutsche Bank, as well as the opportunity to hear from current Deutsche Bank employees regarding their experiences. There was also much opportunity for discussion with employees in a Q&A situation, as well as opportunities to network with the other interns on the spring week via 'coffee connects'.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was incredibly insightful learning about the business and the divisions within. All the employees who spoke to us did a great job at explaining their day-to-day role, and so now I know with more clarity where I would like to sit within Deutsche Bank. It was also great understanding the business from employees, as I got an insight into the excellent culture Deutsche Bank has.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I definitely developed my communication skills over the course of the week, as often you were speaking with people you had not met before so needed to communicate effectively with them to build a relationship. I also developed my teamwork skills through sessions such as the virtual escape room and pub quiz, as well as my technology skills and my ability to successfully use Zoom!

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was amazing! Even though the program was run virtually, it was still very easy to see how friendly the employees were, and how supportive they were of one another. The fact that so many of them had spent so long at Deutsche Bank is also a testament to the culture at the bank, and in several of the sessions the flatter hierarchal structure of Deutsche Bank was mentioned.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I absolutely loved the insight! I learnt so much in such a short space of time regarding how the bank functions on a daily basis, and the different roles within the bank. The numerous opportunities to network were great, and I enjoyed the sessions such as making the 1 minute movie which involved teamwork with the other interns. I also enjoyed learning about Deutsche Bank's culture- it has made me keen to work there!

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deutsche Bank
I'd encourage them to do as much research about the bank as possible before any interview/ telephone interview to demonstrate why it is they want to work at Deutsche Bank and not a competitor. I'd also encourage them to reach out to someone at the bank so they can get a greater feel of the amazing culture, and can use that in their interview.
