Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Auditing in B&CM
General day to day varies and depends on the client you're on, but heavy exposure to how big banking clients account for their operations and how complex areas such as financial instruments are valued under International reporting standards
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Enjoy it a lot, worth the dedication, but definitely long hours both studying and working. A lot of commitment to the course so would only recommend it if you're really keen on being an accountant/in finance

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, great place to develop skills

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well organised, never feel like I don't know what the next steps are
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
For the hours worked, not a lot of support is provided but we are able to expense meals if we work late and travel back which definitely supports the hours we do
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The university is dedicated to providing support especially in difficult areas like tax law, but it could definitely be better in other modules
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
The understanding of financial accounting definitely helps, as well as business finance for banking/capital markets, but tax has not yet really been used in my work
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Not a lot on offer, but flying start dinners and socials twice throughout placement

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Great future opportunities, but also great opportunities for progression if you're keen to reach manager at PwC. I've worked long hours but i dont regret it as it's given me a much better foundation in accounting that I could get else where - interesting clients too.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
Understand what audit is, why you want to do it etc. before applying. You want to be passionate about what you're doing before starting, if you don't enjoy the job it can be easy to become demotivated at times especially when it gets busy
