Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
On a usual day I can expect to be making contact with clients to discuss their matters, drafting legal documents for review, contacting third parties like banks and government bodies and sitting in on meetings to take the attendance notes.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy this apprenticeship as it has given me so many opportunities that I didn't imagine I could get straight out of sixth form.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed my different styles of communication to suit the variety of stakeholders I communicate with. I have also learnt to use a large variety of new digital tools that I had never come across before, such as those I use to draft our legal documents and complete legal research.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My training provider has a very well structured training programme that is easy to follow and fit into the timescale expected.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer provides clear expectations and lots of support to help me meet these. I also have regular catch-ups with my manager to ensure that everything is going smoothly.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider has assigned me a specific coach who is available for me to contact when I need to, and we have regular set meetings to ensure that I am progressing as expected.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My training links very nicely to the work that I do on a daily basis so I am able to use my new knowledge in the workplace all the time to have a better understanding of the tasks I am completing.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are internal social activities that are open to all the different teams in the company so that we can get to know other employees we don't work with directly. There are also lots of external events which allow the opportunity to network with a variety of professionals.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Irwin Mitchell to a friend?
Yes
Why?
They have provided me with a massive opportunity to learn new skills on the job and to be involved in the company the same as any other employee. They also have many opportunities for personal development and are a well organised and very professional company.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Irwin Mitchell?
I would say that you should definitely be yourself as they really value individuality and show that you are willing to learn, as you are not expected to know anything at the beginning of your apprenticeship but you need to show that you will apply yourself to the role and really get involved.
