My role involves the delivery of a wide range scope of quantity surveying related services and deliverables.
My day typically starts at 9am and ends at 5:30pm. It normally consists of meetings and blocks of time in my schedule for working on varying deliverables for my team.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I wholeheartedly enjoy my programme - both the work, training, and university experience, but also the social life that is so closely attached to it.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned and developed upon a wide range of skills, both soft and hard.
Some soft skills which I've learned include stakeholder management, client engagement, and conflict management. Others which I've developed upon include, communication, time management, confidence.
In terms of hard skills, I have learned to use programs such as CostX (a measuring program related to professionals in the cost side of the construction industry), Excel, as well as financial modelling and cost planning in general. Others which I've developed upon include using IT programs and software.

My programme is very well structured and also organised. I appreciate that I can review and see the trajectory of my career path as well as have set goals to develop myself professionally.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive plentiful support from my employer whenever I need it. This accounts for in terms of managing work load with university, receiving support for work via training, or mental health support. Overall, I am thoroughly satisfied with the support I get.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive plentiful support from my training provider (London South Bank University) when working towards my qualification. They provide lectures, seminars, tutor sessions, as well as provide me with contacts to my module leaders and lecturers for any support I may need.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I believe my qualification helps in performing better in my role as it provides me with a fundamental understanding of the construction industry as a whole. Not only this, but it also trains me on technical aspects of quantity surveying, such as measurement and/or quantification.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is a plentiful amount of social activities - these include: networking events, apprentice nights, site visits, seminars, as well as award ceremonies.

I would recommend Mace to a friend due to the exposure to the industry you gain, the training mace provide, the social life which comes with working at Mace, as well as the overall atmosphere at the company.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace?
Do your research on the company, find out about their different service delivery options, the sectors in which they operate in, some projects (not only the big ones), as well as network with others working at Mace to gain an edge/insight into the company, this can be done through sites such as LinkedIn.
