Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am in the broker support team and this involves the creation of contract slips, as well as endorsement production. I also have the responsibility of overseeing certain spreadsheets.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I do enjoy it. There are some parts which I find less enjoyable than others but I think this is expected in most professions.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt lots of new information about both the insurance and reinsurance industry. I have developed leadership skills through overseeing spreadsheets. This has taught me to take both responsibility and accountability.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It is very organised and structured. I have tasks that I must complete by certain deadlines and I also have monthly catch up calls with my apprenticeship coach which are very helpful and keep me on track.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I feel as though I receive a lot of support, especially from my line manager.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive a lot of support. The tasks are structured around working towards my qualifications which is beneficial. My apprenticeship coach also keeps me on track by pushing me to complete my exams.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification teaches me a lot of information about both insurance and reinsurance, which transfers across to my job role. I can use the correct terminology when speaking to members of my team.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are lots of social activities and sports teams at Guy Carpenter. One example is the young professionals group which strives to provide opportunities for the younger people who are working within insurance.
