Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I currently work on Lower Thames Crossing where some of my regular tasks include assessing applications for payment from suppliers and contractors and also calculating the monthly inflation adjustment factor. I regularly interact with my line manager internally with T&T and also my commission manager on Lower Thames Crossing.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am really enjoying my programme with T&T because I have been able to meet a lot of new people who I work with regularly and I now feel as though I am part of a large team.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

One of the main skills I have developed is the ability to understand wording in contracts. This is because any work we do must be in line with the contract, therefore being able to understand the wording can be tricky at first but now I feel confident doing so.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

Turner & Townsend have an extremely well structured programme which they map very closely with the RICS competencies so that once you have finished your apprenticeship, you are ready to take your chartership straight away.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from T&T. I have regular catch ups with my line manager who provides as much support as I need, both with my work and my apprenticeship as a whole.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Have quarterly meetings with my training provider to go over my progress. Am able to speak to the uni any time with regards to lectures and assignments.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I haven't been able to relate much of my work to my learning at University as a lot of the University work is focused on smaller buildings whereas my role is in Infrastructure. However, I believe that further down the line, I will be able to relate some of the modules to my work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Turner & Townsend is great for extra-curricular activities. We have endless sports teams who set up regular events for different sports. For example, I have been involved in the football team that have set up internal 5 a side tournaments, as well as 11 a side games against other companies. There are also regular professional networking events, including coffee mornings and post work drinks.

Turner & Townsend has a great working environment where everyone is very approachable and makes it a great place to work, especially for apprentices. They also have an incredibly structured programme to follow with top industry experts to help you along the way.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Turner & Townsend?
Be very open minded when joining and apply yourself as much as possible and get involved in as much as you can. Networking is one of the most important factors to your career so building that up early is a great tool that you can use throughout your programme and then in your career.
