Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role entails a plethora of responsibilities including but not limited to; attending meetings (as well as chairing them), minute taking, writing different reports, attending site and assessing progress, holding client and contractor workshops, solving site/client issues, and organising internal events.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I find myself thoroughly enjoying the practical aspects of my job as it is in the field that I wish to pursue as my career, however, I feel that the learning provider could be drastically improved as it is a common theme that the lecturers are not as effective in the role of teaching as they should be, this is disheartening as I am aware that the passing of my degree is vital in order to further my career and it is not enjoyable. This is due to the lecturers who are teaching my cohort not being able to portray information and offering little to no assistance when needed.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned how to write formal reports, use available information to solve larger problems, use important work applications effectively and efficiently such as word and excel, as well as developing my communication and networking skills.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I feel that my programme is extremely well structured as it has been clear from the beginning of what is expected from myself and my fellow apprentices. There is also a clear timeline of the stages that we need to be at and when.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive as much support as I feel that I require from my employer, as I want to be able to work as independently as possible, however, when I need support it is always readily available no matter what it is.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I do not receive an appropriate amount of support from my training provider as my emails are often left with no response and any question I ask is not directly answered in a clear way. Lecturers are often unclear when they are teaching and tasks given to the learners are apparent to see that they were not thought through in a structured and objective way. Information is often withheld and learners are often left confused.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It has provided me with some theoretical knowledge, but I have found that I have learned most effectively through doing the practical work in my company.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are a plethora of extra-curricular activities that Turner & Townsend hold, these range from charity events, networking events, award dinners, office social events arranged internally and football clubs.

Why?
I have experienced only positivity with Turner & Townsend. There is a healthy working environment with warm and welcoming people. I am confident that should I suffer any difficulty in my work-life or my personal-life Turner & Townsend would support me 100%. I feel that I would not have as many opportunities to progress my career if I were to work for any other company than Turner & Townsend.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Turner & Townsend?
Have a good work ethic and a willingness to learn and Turner & Townsend will carry you the rest of the way in progressing your career.
