Maintaining boats mechanically and making sure CASD is available at all times
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Not very much so. Delivery of training was very poor for my svq level 3. This had delayed my apprenticeship up to 6 months due to training problems which held me back (Assesor issues and proper knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering). Svq level 2 was adequate however.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes I have, I have developed what it would be like in a high pressure environment alongside regular problems that occur and how to deal with them.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme was structured well between my 1-3 year however my 4th year was very confusing and not very well structured and held me back by up to 6 months.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer gave me great support however it was my training centre (west college Scotland) that let me down.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

There was a lack of support from the training provider as they could not provide adequate support as there was a lack of knowledge of mechanical engineering topic and the amount of times I met with my trainer was far from enough.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Personally from my training provider is was extremely poor but from the company itself it was great and I I felt as if I got all my knowledge from my journeyman on-site and off my own back using tools I found online myself.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes there are school programmes we are placed on to talk to schools about babcock. There is also team building exercises and night outs.
Recommendations & Advice
Would you recommend Babcock International Group to a friend?
No
Why?
I would not recommend this as there is a lack of quality and knowledge from the training provider.
As for babcock as the employer I would recommend them yes.
As a result when combining the company and training provider together this creates problems that did not get resolved during my apprenticeship resulting in me not recommending to a friend or relative.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Babcock International Group?
You will need to be willing to do work under your own knowledge and understanding of the training provider as there was a lack of knowledge and understanding from them.
