Babcock Apprentice Review

I enjoy my programme as I am constantly learning on the job, whilst also being able to experience the different departments on camp. By seeing the different departments, it allows me to get a better insight into the different trades available which helped me pick my own route within the company. Each day is different, with different faults and tasks giving me a more diverse learning experience which I personally prefer.

I have not only developed my existing skills with engineering in general, but added new skills such as lock wiring, split pin installation, documentation write ups, splicing, crimping and these are just to name a few. Since joining Babcock in RAF Valley it has unlocked a new perspective into my engineering skills

I myself am currently a part of the RAF Valley football team, who allow contractors such as Babcock employees to play. I am unaware of any other such sports ran through RAF Valley however that is likely due to the fact that I myself am only focused on football. As a part of the cohort the training department does arrange a trip for each cohort to RAF Cosford, where us apprentices get a day visit to the air museum.

Learn about the company and what they specialise on. Babcock specialise in a variety of different engineering jobs, not all being aerospace, so it is important to learn the history of the company and what the future looks like.
