Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
For the first year we are in college in 5 days a week, with 3 of them being in the workshop and the other 2 being a tech cert day where we learn about our job and the other day being a day where we complete coursework.
At the start of the year we learned various hand skills for 2 weeks to help us grasp what we would partake in over the course of the year. Then after we got straight into completing projects where as we went on, we learned how to use different machines, different tools etc. I am using tools and machines I’ve never used before and never heard of previously!
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
It’s hard work at times, but I really enjoy being part of a team and working alongside others. I also know there are many opportunities available to me.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes definitely, I’ve learnt new skills and am still learning!

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
It taken a little while, but it’s structured now after around 3 months. For the first 3 months we didn’t have a tutor for the classroom section and as a result myself and others are behind with that side of things.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I feel that my employer is supportive. We don’t have much to do with them in the first year as we are at college, but I feel if we needed support with anything they would be there.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I feel we get good support from training provider, other than as previously mentioned the lack of classroom tutor in the first 3 months.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It will help me learn my job and give me more knowledge. I couldn’t do my job without working towards the qualification.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, there are different things available.
