Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role currently is as a student learning in college so day-to-day involves either time in the workshop creating test jobs (machining or by hand) or in the classroom doing theoretical work (health and safety/maths/engineering materials studies)
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Very much

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have both developed existing skills (such as hand skills from D&T courses in secondary) as well as developed new skills like with machining.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It is well organised with all work we need to complete scheduled/planned to be completed by certain checkpoints across the year. We have tests/reviews to examine our progress as well regularly.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
We receive a lot of support and training from our employer.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel that much of what I am learning will be invaluable in my future role. Even if I do not use certain parts of my training every day or ever again I feel that it will make me a better engineer and give a better understanding of what’s needed.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are many clubs/groups hosted at city college which we can join and participate in. Our employer also sponsors many events and activities in the local area which we are encouraged to participate in.
