Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am responsible for creating and maintaining software products for the firm. This is mainly internal, but we do work with external clients. I do full-stack development, and am expected to write and test the code that I make.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the work-side of my program, PwC are a great employer and they treat you very well. You get access to experts in their respective fields and everyone is so friendly.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have improved my technical skills by increasing the number of languages / technologies that I know, as well as building upon existing knowledge that I had self-taught myself / learnt at GCSE / A Level.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme has only be run since 2022 so had some little teething issues. Overall, it has been well-organised and some little issues are being rectified. It is nice doing block-release for the university element of the degree as it means that I can focus on the degree side during those weeks, and the work part during the other weeks. We also get time to complete assignments whilst at work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Plenty, we have our own support networks at PwC, including Career Coaches. I know that I can go to anyone for help, and if they can't help, they'll point me to someone who can. It is a very supportive environment, especially as a Degree Apprentice
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I believe that the skills that I pick up on the job are more helpful and transferrable than those that I learn through my training provider. It is really good to have a recognised degree though, but the most value comes from the on-the-job learning. The degree is from the OU, which you won't find uni rankings for in most league tables, and works a bit differently from a standard degree.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have plenty of networking opportunities, and can take part in outreach activities. We also have networks (like uni societies) within PwC, and there are opportunities to play sport or take part in socials.

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
They're a great employer, something that has been recognised by the Times, who recognised PwC as the No.1 Graduate employer in 2023. In my opinion, that also applies to Apprentices. They are also a very understanding and welcoming firm.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
Be yourself!
