Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Mostly involves commercial admin works i.e. managing payments, making meeting notes, data entry and compiling spreadsheets. I manage document and invoice/payment trackers also.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy it a fair amount, in construction generally you are just expected to work beyond normal hours without extra pay i.e. 8-5 instead of 9-5, and you never really get to take a full lunch break, although this is not just me and applies to everyone in the office. It is enjoyable but can sometimes become tiring and repetitive considering the holiday allowance

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I've gained a fair amount of technical knowledge regarding construction and construction methods, as well as methods of data analysis

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well organised and structured, there are monthly apprentice trainings and the emerging talent managers are easily contactable
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
A fair amount of support, if I were to ask for it. Generally, since I am in my first year I can manage my workload between university and work well enough.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
The lecturers are fine, but the admin at my training provider isn't quite up to scratch. The skills reviewers are generally hard to contact, and to try organise training for the hours logging platform was essentially impossible, I had to wait until it was flagged on the university system and I was contacted.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
It is often useful since I become aware of specific industry terms used, or am able to use the technical knowledge to understand concepts being discussed at work, but it provides little in terms of making me better in my day to day tasks
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are lots of extra-curricular activities provided at Mace, such as the networks to join i.e. Women at Mace, Pets At Mace, and there are various apprentice networking events provided.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Mace to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Although the working hours are quite long, there is a real sense of community in the office and I feel that Mace really care about and support their emerging talent i.e. both grads and apprentices. The company also provide opportunities globally, and the opportunity to move job roles if you're unhappy in your current role.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace?
The company culture in Mace is really strong, so ensure you are aware of the company values and can describe a time you have demonstrated each one, or explain why you can relate to it. Try to apply the business values to "what would you do if..." scenarios when asked. Showing a genuine interest in the field can go a long way as well.
