Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Currently, I am unable to provide an overview of my job role and what I am involved with on a day-to-day basis on site as I am studying full time at the training centre. At the training centre, I study subjects related to mechanical engineering such as mechanical systems and engineering drawing.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy my programme, especially due to how organised and well-thought out the entire course is. I enjoy attending the training centre everyday as I learn new skills and have the opportunity to speak to other like-minded apprentices.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed my knowledge and skills using machines such as the lathes and milking machines to the point where I can now comfortably produce components with little guidance from my tutor. I have also learnt new skills like programming CNC machines and enhancing my enhancing drawing skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is very well structured because I always know what work needs to be carried out. I am made fully aware when assignments are due and if we are moving onto a new unit or subject.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive lots of support from my employer, wether it be through termly meetings with my assessor to update me on my progress and fill out reports, or through emailing the HR department when I have a question about my course.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive lots of support from my training provider when working towards my qualifications by them providing feedback on my assignments if necessary to ensure I achieve the best possible result. They also support by being ready to answer questions about content of the unit we are studying or assisting me with fitting tasks in the workshop.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualification provided by my training provider will help me to perform better in my role by teaching me about the relevant health and safety requirements that must be adhered to whilst on site. Also, subjects such as mechanical systems will teach me the knowledge that is necessary for me to have a good understanding of general tasks that will be performed on site.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I am not aware of any extra-curricular activities that occur at my work as I am still studying at my training centre, but there were suggestions of starting extra curricular activities at the training centre.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Cummins to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would, and have, recommend Cummins to many of my friends because of the level of support and benefits I receive despite not being on site yet, is incredibly reassuring. Also, the course that is provided is tailored well to my needs, and I believe it will place me on the correct career pathway to achieve my goals in the future.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Cummins?
I would advise others to read through the apprenticeship advert thoroughly to ensure the course advertised includes aspects of engineering that they are passionate about.
