Seeking and doing trainee-type tasks. Speaking to lawyers at all levels within the firm. Attending client calls. Conducting research.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Very eye-opening. The Management Committee of the firm and lawyers at all levels answered all questions about working at the firm and the different career paths available.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
It was even more enjoyable than I had hoped. We were treated as fully integrated members of the firm and were given free rein to explore our own interests.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Baker McKenzie
Think deeply about why your interests align with the firm's strategy and direction. The video interview is perhaps the most difficult element of the process so prepare lots of scenario answers that fit within the time limit. Ask as many questions as you can possibly think of as the advice given to me by the General Counsel of the firm was: there are no stupid questions, only easy answers - and people like giving easy answers because it makes them look good, so ask away!
