Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

There were many different talks that would introduce us to different aspects of the Firm, whether these were given by trainees, associates, partners, or graduate recruitment.
I would sit with my department, and would complete work given to me by my supervisor and buddy, who would then give me feedback on any work I completed.
Pro Bono is a large part of being at Baker Mckenzie, and there was a lot of scope for getting involved throughout my time there.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

There are many different departments that you can sit in (16 seat options as a trainee). However, although you only get to experience work in 2 of these, the different departmental lunches and breakfasts meant you were able to gain an understanding of all the different roles that you could take within the Firm as a trainee.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt to become more professional and proactive. Additionally, learning how to draft legal documents was a highlight, along with developing attention-to-detail when sitting in on client meetings and proofreading important documents.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Everyone was incredibly friendly and supportive during my time at Baker Mckenzie. From the graduate recruitment team, to the trainees and associates, to the partners and management committee, everyone was incredibly welcoming.
