Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My daily responsibilities include revising drawings to make sure they are ready for the next step of the design process, updating CAD drawings, and meeting with project managers and project leads to ensure that the targets are being met.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I find the Apprenticeship to be quite enjoyable as I prefer to learn on the job rather than sitting in a classroom full time. We are still required to attend college on a day release basis (1 day a week) and work full time for the rest of the week.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Since starting at Arup, I have developed a range of relevant skills with the various software's used at Arup. Some of the software's we are required to use are, MicroStation, Info Drainage, AutoCAD, ArcPro. These skills allow me to work alongside more experienced engineers/technicians on different projects.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The believe that the apprenticeship is well structured as it allows for you to gain real world experience of the job whilst still gaining an industry recognised qualification in the process.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer is extremely supportive and gives the apprentices the necessary knowledge and skills required to pass the apprenticeship programme.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The training provider usually tries to have a tripartite meeting every 2 months however sometimes it does get slightly delayed. The meeting itself is quite useful as it allows the assessor to set targets and goals that must be achieved by the next meeting.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The qualification provides the necessary theory and knowledge required to complete my day to day tasks.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Their are frequent team socials to get to know the wider team.
