Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work primarily on the detailed design of water civil projects, using CAD to create the drawings that will later be sent to the contractor.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme a lot as i feel it helps me progress in the right direction for my future career as well as helping me build the foundation knowledge that will be critical as i start taking more responsibility on.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have worked for the company for 1.5 years and have learnt a significant amount about the job and the industry as a whole. My general knowledge and problem solving has become better since i started as well.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme i am currently on is very well structed with lots of support in place from many different people so there is always someone i can talk about anything with.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

ARUP offers so much support for every member which is extremely helpful especially when you first join.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Leeds college of building is not as supportive with apprentices as other students as their main focus is to hep people get a job once they leave. However if you ask for it and speak to the right people they will help you.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification i am getting through college gives me the theory behind what i am doing in work which helps give me a starting place to work from and grow my knowledge.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

ARUP does one main social event for the whole office once a month and individual teams may meet up more often there is also a plethora of clubs to join such as but not limited to art club, running, cycling and the ARUP snowboarding and skiing club. The skiing club will often go way once a year on a skiing/ snowboarding trip.
