Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am curriculum lead for the Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship. My roles is a Lead Trainer for learners who are undertaking the HR Level 3 Support Apprenticeship and Level 3 Foundation Certificate in People Practice. I am responsible for delivering training, learner progress, curriculum design etc.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy my programme. I have a great trainer who truly inspires me. My workshops are engaging and interactive and my learning materials are diverse, detailed and wide ranging as are my apprenticeship activities which keeps me engaged and motivated to learn more and apply my learning.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, through my L5 Learning and Skills Teacher apprenticeship I have strengthened and enhanced my knowledge, skills and behaviours as a teacher and this has enabled me to improve my teaching methods, practices and behaviours. I have greater knowledge of teaching theories and effective teaching practices which I am able to apply.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

There is a logical organised structure to my apprenticeship programme which combines workshops (online) with activities to complete each month on my learning platform. I am also working on building up a portfolio of evidence for my End Point Assessment each month.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5

I am given the time required to complete my apprenticeship work in work time. I have a day allocated to my apprenticeship each week. I also have the autonomy to put my learning into practice and I can therefore apply my learning in my work without restriction.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have one-to-one sessions with my lead trainer when required. I also have regular progress review meetings every 8-10 weeks on programme.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It has made a significant difference to my role. I have had no formal training previously on teaching and I have only learned through experience. Both myself and my employer can see evidence of significant improvement in not only my teaching practices but also in my confidence as a teacher.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, we have two annual full team meetings, we have social get togethers as a team and my employer offers CPD opportunities. They also promote other opportunities to get together such as walks. I attended an evening at the Races with my employer as a thank you for a project I completed with some of my colleagues.

Why?

Looking at this from the perspective as being a learner, rather than an employee of Crosby, I would highly recommend my own apprenticeship with Crosby. My trainer is really inspiring, supportive and knowledgeable and my programme is fantastic.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Crosby Management Training Ltd?

Crosby is different to other bigger apprenticeship providers in that you have dedicated trainers who will be with you to support you through your entire apprenticeship journey. If you like interactive (not lecture style) teaching Crosby is a great provider and you will be treated as a person and not a number.
