Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
The job itself is fine. Fairly standard customer facing banking. Good colleagues and management. Assisting customers with any queries they may have - can be quite a broad range.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Customer service, problem solving, working under pressure and other soft skills have been hugely built on, as well as more specific hard skills, such as using our systems, navigating and following our procedures, and more.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
I don't really get the time I need at work, but the bank is much more on top of things than the apprenticeship provider. The apprenticeship itself through Kaplan is extremely poorly organised, with massive flaws.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
While the managers all do their best, due to staffing levels (determined by those higher up in the bank than I will ever meet), we are usually too understaffed for me to get the time I need to work on my apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
HSBC has trained me in the role far more than the Kaplan apprenticeship has, especially given the poor alignment and organisation of the apprenticeship meaning it didn't start until after I had been at the job for two months. That said, it does teach me more about certain aspects and give me a more in-depth knowledge than I would otherwise have, especially in areas of banking my role does not focus on.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Not so far, other than the odd after work event here and there, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend HSBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is actually a fairly good employer, with staffing levels being my only real issue here.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to HSBC?
