Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
I completed real time work for my supervisor, as well as getting work from other departments. I also took part in various social events, and sessions to understand different initiatives at the firm. I also had the opportunity to network with different people at the firm, all of which were more than happy to take time out to talk to me about their work and experiences.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was very insightful, as the firm encourage us to engage with people from all levels, from partner to trainee. It was a very well rounded overview of what the firm does and the potential that we could explore as part of the firm.

I have developed my legal writing skills, as I previously did not have any experience doing this. My supervisor was very supportive in terms of answering all my questions and giving constructive feedback for me to improve my work.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone was very nice and always open to chat or grab a coffee. We also learnt a lot about the firm’s initiatives towards diversity and pro bono. You could tell that the firm cared to do more to create a more inclusive environment.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I really enjoyed the vacation scheme. The work given was engaging and the people were really nice as well. The socials were also fun. Overall, it was a well rounded scheme.

I would encourage people to be themselves, as if this is going to be a firm that you remain with in the long run, you want to make sure that you properly fit in with the firm. This is also an opportunity to decide if the firm is for you, and it is okay to feel that it isn’t for you.
