Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is to run the Education and Community Outreach Programme at Computacenter where I focus in engaging with schools, colleges and university to improve their employability skills and to inspire students to follow careers in technology.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship and am grateful for the opportunity to upskill and thus achieve a qualification in my role. I love the fact we can regularly engage with other peers on the programme during our live lessons and in-person days, as well as support from our learning mentors.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a plethora of new skills during my apprenticeship programme, as well as developing existing skills from my current role and educational background. As my role is very people-centric, I have thoroughly enjoyed developing new skills in the sustainability field and improving my CSR knowledge.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is very well organised and structured, within my apprenticeship programme itself and my routine and support from my employer. I have chosen my Mondays as my set study day to completing my apprenticeship studies and courses, and the rest of the week is dedicated to my role.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer as we have regular monthly meetings to discuss my apprenticeship and receive support on my personal and career development path. My employer also provided me with the opportunity to do this programme to upskill and become qualified in-role.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my training provider for my apprenticeship programme as we have bi-monthly meetings and support during the live lesson, as well as regular feedback sessions to discuss coursework and evidence pieces.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I believe that this qualification has thoroughly supported me in my role and will continue to do so upon completion, as I am able to apply my CSR knowledge effectively and act more strategically than operationally at work. It also allows me to focus more on sustainability at Computacenter.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I am part of the Ethnic Diversity Speak Freely Team, Freshminds Future Talent social and development group where I organised a Sport Days for the apprentices, placement students and graduated and I volunteer regularly at charity and fundraising events across the year.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Computacenter to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Computacenter is a highly people-orientated organisation where the company values their employees and invests a lot in their people. It is a very diverse workforce and I always feel appreciated and celebrated in my role. Doing an apprenticeship was just the cherry on the cake, which I am grateful for.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Computacenter?
I have four main tips to share with potential employees:
1. First Impressions Count! 2. Stand out for the right reasons 3. Apply early, as sometimes we close deadlines due to the number of applicants 4. Be Yourself and showcase all your skillsets in the application processes :)
