Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Quality Inspector- This involves checking one off parts, capability studies, plant lab work which involves checking the strength of machine wash solutions, cleanliness of parts. I also do pull tests on parts where a tensile strength machine is used to pull parts apart and see what the breaking point was.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy my apprenticeship, it has allowed me to try new things and go to different places such as parliament in London as a part of representing apprenticeships at Cummins.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt many different skills from learning how to produce components on lathes and milling machines in my time at college to being trained on multiple CMM machines we have in quality. Being in the quality team has enabled me to grow my confidence as I speak to people all around the factory.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My apprenticeship has been structured well. I think the first full year at the training center/ college helped grow my confidence before coming on site and into work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a great amount of support from my employer. My manager is very supportive and willing to help further my skills and knowledge in my job.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Its important to get all help where possible. At my training center its often difficult to get all information needed from some tutors.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The maths skills I have learnt in my course especially has helped me in my role at work. Skills such as trigonometry are used frequently so its important to have a good understanding of how to apply this.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Im a part of WEN (Womens Empowering Network) at the Cummins Huddersfield site. Being involved in this has helped me meet new people and voice my opinion about being woman in engineering which I wouldn't have been able to do without this group.
