Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a project assistant at Mace, my role involves supporting my project team in various aspects of project coordination and administration. My day to day tasks can include organising meetings, taking meeting minutes, managing documents and file organisation as well a being involved with preparing reports and updating project plans.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am pleased to say that I am really enjoying the programme provided by Mace. It has provided me with lots of new skills as well as allowing me to network with others completing the same programme as me as well as others attending the same University provider as me.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Hi have both learnt and developed skills at Mace. This includes both what I learnt previously in my 'professional construction practice' A-level as well as gaining new skills for development sessions provided by mace. These sessions include learning about the different parts of the business and the roles within as well as sessions about financial awareness and report writing.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I believe the apprenticeship programme that I am completing at Mace is well organised and structured as Mace provided us with lots of training within the first few months both online and in person. These sessions have now been moved to monthly, however extra training is always available. Monthly Apprentice meetings are also organised to allow apprentices to interact with other around there business unit.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I believe that I receive lots of support from my employer, providing me with mentors and buddies within the company to help me with any tasks and queries I have. All those apart of my project team are aware of my knowledge and provide me with help and support when completing tasks.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We receive lots of training by previous industry professionals providing us with knowledge from their past as well as information that we can access to better ourselves on certain topics
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I believe my training through UCEM helps me within my role as it provides me with knowledge and insights that can come up within both projects and meetings.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, within Mace socials are pushed in order for everyone to network and get to know others part of their business unit. As well as this graduates and apprentices have set up football teams to play against each other after work as well as take part in charity events allowing us to network with other companies within the industry.

I believe that the apprenticeship scheme at Mace is a very great way to get into the industry and have job security when they are finished with the programme. The support given by those from the emerging talent team as well as those around the business is amazing allowing you to get involved within projects and play a part in the delivery of the project.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace?
When applying for Mace, You should look into the business and what services we provide. Make sure you get involved with opportunities given by mace during the application process as well as gaining some work experience before you apply.
