Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am require to commission, monitor and cease layer 2 and 3 devices across multiple networks. This includes fault identification, exploration and rectification.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
It was helpful, but not always enjoyable. This was due to the limited levels of clear communication from firebrand on how to complete expected work and by when. the in work side (BT) was helpful setting expectations of the required skills and how to achieve/ work on them, expedited with test networks and labs.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I had no it skills prior however, after this apprenticeship I can contribute effectively to various projects and networks

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Firebrand was not well organized on the layout of academic expectations. However, BT was able to provide a clear structure of rotations to better understand the holistic mission and how my role would fit into that.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My employer was able to provide all the support needed, through monthly reviews with myself and on-track meetings. Similarly they were able to help direct me on where/ who best to go to, to gain exposure and tasks that help me meet the criteria.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Some study days were provided for additional CompTIA qualifications which were helpful. However the regular progress meetings felt like a box ticking exercise and did not provide the support needed. asking my dedicated firebrand mentor informally was much better for understanding what I needed to do.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
It provided me with the awareness of some of the general skills to succeed in IT generally but missed some key components of networking that was interested in and which I am now employed in. I feel more could be provided around this topic throughout.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
yes monthly events within BT and my department, that I was easily able to get involved with and integrate socially with other team members.
