Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work as a Claim Service Advisor and it involves hanling all claims for my alligned clients and helping them keep their claims on track with their insurer.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I love learning and developing my technical skills but I have struggled to balance the programme with my work and home life balance and managing my stress and improving my time management. The programme expectations and tips on how to balance everything should be explained in more detail at the start.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned more about the basic principles of insurance from the IF1 and from attending webinars and learning about diffrent lines of insurance and types of claims such as disease claims, med mal claims, contractors all risk claims.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I believe the programme is well organised in that the workload is spread out as much as possible and the targets are set based on my own pace. I believe the programe can be a bit demanding at times and there are a lot of different aspects to juggle and it might be better for some of these requirements to be reduced by the government so as to make a work life balance easier and to also factor in for people who are furtehr into their craeers and have more demanding jobs or where their companies cannot give them tons of hours a week for the programme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

A fair amount in terms of I am asked how I am gettign on on numerous occassionas and my workload is assessed regularliy and adjusted to help me not feel overwhelmed. If I have any issues with my programme my manager is willing to do anything to help me improve this or raise concerns about the programme on my behalf. They also support me in my progress reviews.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I get regular progress review meetings where I can ask for additional resources or advise on how to do better on the programme. I am also provided tons of different rescources to help me learn the course content and prepare me as much as possible to sit the final exam.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It does help me learn new content by making it a requirement for me to focus on new learning but it does also create a lot of additonal stress and make it hard to balance my actual job with the high demands of the programme. It is also a challenge to constantly have to think how I am improving and how I can evidence this to pass the programme.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes my work encourages me to attend any confrenceses I feel I would benefit from and gives me the time out for these. My team works hard to arrange regular social events for team building and we are encouraged to remain social while at work.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aon?
I highly recommend Aon as a company and advise to prepare well for the interview in advance as it is a competency based interview. Any prior experience within the indtsuryt is hugely helpful but if you have none Aon offers apprenticeship programmes for people having just left school.
