Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work within a team of software engineers working with simulaton software using c++ and other languages.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
The office work and team is excellent the college is poor and doesn't support a degree level course with poor levels of teaching.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed new skills such as using C++ and AGILE methods in standup. Using new software and understanding the importance of working in a team.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
The programme has been structured poorly on the college side with information not flowing and not hearing back from them. Key information missing such as KSBs which we still aren't aware of 5 months into the course. Assignment information never clear.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
Good support from the team but communication between the employer and the college has been substandard with issues taking a long time to remedy. Everyone I work with is supportive and open to give a helping hand on any queries I have on assignment work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
Minimal communication, problems since the start and information never clear. No understanding of how to complete the apprenticeship since I don't understand how to achieve my KSBs. Overall college is poor and has been the worst teaching I have experienced.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
I don't learn anything and am having to self teach. The content lines up with what I do at work but stress is caused by the lack of learning from the college.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
My office isn't in an area where this is possible but I am sure if the office was located in a more built up area the team would make the effort

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Lockheed Martin to a friend?
No
Why?
My learning experience has been poor and minimal value added by the college however the actual work has been very interesting and has broadened my view of computing. I have been able to better my skills but the stress of the college being poor brings everything down.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lockheed Martin?
I wouldn't advise they join a programme unless it is based out of a university since the college are unable to reach a good univeristy standard of teaching.
