Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I support children who have special educational needs and make their learning easier, I help guide them and motivate them into learning. I build relationships and keep children safe in an environment that allows them to have a second home in the school I work in. I really love it!
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoyed the programme because it taught me everything I needed to know in order to become a successful teaching assistant. I enjoyed how laid back and communicative and compassionate the tutors were and how knowledgeable they were, I enjoyed being able to view my progress and success in work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt how to safeguard children appropriately, I have learnt how to keep track of which children are best supported with different methods, I have learnt the skills I needed to better support children in school such as maths and English recalls and where to report concerns if needed.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It’s very organised if you keep up to date with the tutors, there were a few instances where communication wasn’t always the best but if you were able to email/text back and forth with the tutor then it was easy to understand what needed to be done.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I received a lot of support from my employer as they understood when I needed to take a call from my tutor and when I needed to submit assignments. They were very forthcoming with information I needed and was able to support when workloads became too much. I appreciated it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I received a lot of support when working towards my level 3. I was given information I needed, hands on experience to understand what my day to day role would be like and how to deliver myself to support students in my work place environment. This has helped me wonderfully.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It has helped me tremendously by encouraging me to develop confidence In myself and how I deliver myself in my job and create good working relationships in the environment, I have been given advice from tutors in the past on what I should do and not do to support children.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are after school interventions such as dungeons and dragons, period 7 lessons for year 11 students and there are reading lessons that I participate in with students to encourage confidence in reading. There are foundations that students partake in with West Bromwich Albion club for students to enjoy weekly.
