Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
We would sit on talks about the firm's history, it's current goals and projects it plans to work on as well as personal journey's from employees at the firm. We also took part in workshops that included a litigation simulation. As well as this, we had plenty of opportunity to network with employees at the firm, with opportunities to ask them any questions we had and networking amongst ourselves (the many other students who attended).
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was really eye-opening and it helped me to think critically about what I really want from my career. It helped me to understand that I should pursue the types of law/sectors I'm interested in as there are many opportunities available in law whether I work at a big London firm or not.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I have developed my understanding of what law firms want to see in terms of CV's and cover letters as well as a better understanding of what the firm itself is looking for in terms of a successful applicant. I have also developed my skills in communication and the ability to collaborate and interact with others in a team.

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The general atmosphere was very welcoming and everyone I met on the programme were helpful with any questions I needed. The company culture was fun and seemed genuinely interested in making change to provide a more inclusive environment for everyone. However, there was still the underlying feeling of competition between peers and pressure to not step out of line in fear of being scolded.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I enjoyed the experience as a whole apart from the litigation simulation but that was simply down to preference and confusion with the organisation of the tasks.

Please express who you truly are and not try to describe yourself in a way that you think law firms want to hear you are interested in. They value you as a person and how well you work with others so you don't need to make law or the sector you are applying for seem so prevalent in everything you do.
