Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:

The work experience involved a range of activities including workshops and group excercises which were interesting and engaging. We had the opportunity to speak with many different people at Pinsent's who were all at different stages in their career and had very different experiences to share with the group, therefore it was a useful insight.
To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?

I enjoyed myself when doing the activities and found the whole programme very easy to access and easy going, however I thought the presentations could have been more condensed as it could get quite boring after a while, but despite this i found the information that was said to be useful.
How well organised was your work experience?

The work experience was very well organised. Everything was set up perfectly and had the right amount of allocated time for the sessions, comfort and lunch breaks. Each session was started on time also so there wasn't any waiting around and wasting time which I thought was great.
How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?

This definatly helped me reconsider and confirm a few different aspects for myself. Personally after this experience I'm going to explore other options outside of commercial law as I'm not sure that field is right for me and fits my particular interests despite really liking the firms ethos and the employees.

I was not paid or reimbursed for this work experience programme, however that's not one of the reasons why I decided to apply or an expectation of mine coming into it as work experience programmes are created for the experience and skill development rather than for any form of financial gain.
Skills Development
What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?

I learnt many new terms that are used within the legal industry, such as commercial awareness. I also feel as if my confidence has increased as previous to this I've never been in a call and spoken in front of over 30 people, it was quite nerve racking at first but as the days went on i definetly became more comfortable and confident doing so. As well as this the session on CV, applications and interview tips was particularly useful in helping with my preparation for completing these things.
Company Culture
How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?

I learnt a lot more than I expected and now think very highly of Pinsent Masons and their ethos. It seems like a lovely place to work and all the employees seem really enthusiastic about their role at the firm and that they genuinely enjoy their job and working with others there.
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?

Yes! There was an abundance of opportunities to speak freely with the different employees throughout every session, and they were all welcoming and open for any questions throughout the session. As well as this we had the option to join a networking lunch.

Would you recommend Pinsent Masons LLP to a friend?

Why?
I would recommend Pinsent to a friend who is interesting in commercial law as I believe this is the perfect firm for anyone with those ambitions. Everyone was really lovely and welcoming which was a nice experience to have and I will defintlay recommend them to others with similar interests.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pinsent Masons LLP?
Don't be nervous! Everyones in the same boat and the Pinsent team were really lovely and helpful as well as all the students who joined the programme. Also have confidence and don't feel threatened by others, you've earned the right to be on the programme just as much as anyone else.
