Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role as a care worker, is to provide care to vulnerable individuals in their own home. I assist them with personal care, food preparation, shopping and domestic work, if they require help. I am there to ensure their daily needs are being met and they are protected from harm.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Everyday I am learning something new. Whether it is about myself or about service users. I am always researching on new things I might have encountered with any service user. I recently discovered what pocketing was and I was intrigued in learning more about this condition. If It wasn't for the programme, I probably wouldn't have researched on it.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt to be very patient and understanding to each individual. I learnt that each individual is different and must be treated as such. I also developed my listening skills, by becoming more of an active listener. I am showing more empathy and communication is better with each individual.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very structured and programmed. I am given a lengthy homework every month and when I am in my online class, I am learning so much. My confidence level is on the rise and I am learning to speak more openly. I am more self aware and it is because the programme is structured in such a way that I am always developing.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Whenever I need support from my employer, all I have to do is give her a call. She knows I am doing my level 3 apprenticeship and if I need time off to complete some work, I will be granted the time off. She will also give me guidelines on what to expect during this course.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider is absolutely amazing and very supportive. If I am unsure about something, she will lead me right where I need to be. She always giving me words of encouragement, even when I think I cannot do the work or I think I am not doing very well, she tells me I am doing better than I think.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The support I am getting from my training provider has given me a self confidence boost and whenever I am at work, I know I am fully equipped to get the job done, both efficiently and effectively. It is through my research and personal development, that I am able to better perform at work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are social events which occur only occasionally. I am never in attendance with these events because of the day it occurs. However, I do pop into the office at times to have a chat with the team, outside of my work schedule. Maybe there can be more social events like sports day.

I have been working with this company for well over 2years and it is because of this company I am able to develop personally. I am more confident, I understand what my role in this life is all about and the work team is there to help me develop and grow to achieve my dream. Anyone looking to get into care can start here and be developed on the job.

Come expecting to work. Come expecting to be developed in confidence and skills, and to have full achievement on the road to success. Ensure this is the career path you want to take and that you are willing to develop personally.
