Overview of the Experience

Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
2/5
I was involved in the normal work practice in the field of audit. I was put onto client work with a team of more senior colleagues and treated like a real member of the team. Had my own tasks assigned but also helped others on theirs and received coaching throughout the work.
To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
3/5
I enjoyed the time that I as on client work especially when I was in the office as it felt quite social and it was easiest to ask for help when my team was right there beside me. I enjoyed the office setting as it was relaxed and a friendly place to be.
How well organised was your work experience?
3/5
I think that my work experience was well organised as we received regular communications from staff at PwC and we also had many support networks available through our career coach, buddy and anyone we worked with. It was easy to see when you were booked to work and I felt confident to ask any questions.
How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
3/5
I already had an idea of what I want my career to be but working in audit has definitely shown that I will be capable and able to do this job when I finish university, and has given a proper experience of what working specifically ta PwC will be like full time.
Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
4/5
Yes we received a monthly salary and were paid for any overtime we completed. I think that this salary was very good and I had no complaints about it. It was appropriate for the grade and the fact that overtime was paid was a good addition, even though I did not do much overtime.

Skills Development

What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
3/5
I developed my confidence a lot as I became more comfortable in asking more senior colleagues for help and guidance, and also became confident enough to speak to clients on my own without others there and reach out to arrange meetings. Also became more competent at using PwCs programmes and excel.

Company Culture

How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
3/5
I learnt a fair bit about the company. When in the office I learnt that the vibe was relaxed and friendly, as everyone was dressed casually. I also liked how the company encourages flexible working and I enjoyed being able to work from home and how we were able to start and finish earlier if we wished.
Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
4/5
Yes, we had a few socials organised for our flying start group, which meant we got to meet up with those we knew from university but hadn't had chance to chat to much on placement, so we could share experiences and socialise in a non work setting, and chat to people we wouldnt usually from the course.

Recommendations and Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend PwC because I think that they are a good company to work for, they are very caring and accommodating to any needs. There is more to the company than just work as there is lots of stuff outside of work such as socials, weekly quizzes and groups to get involved with.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
I would give tips to just be yourself when you are going through the application processes, don't try too hard to come across as a leader as they are looking for someone who can lead but also listen and include others. Also do research about the company as this is preferred.
