Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I'm usually given tasks by a senior team member (manager, senior associate). These tasks include but are not limited to audit testing, arranging client meetings, requesting for evidence from the client and ensuring workpapers are up-to-date.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoyed it a lot because I've learnt a lot of technical and transferable skills. I also got to meet many amazing people within the firm and built meaningful relationships.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I was able to develop my communication skills through regular internal and external meetings. I also developed my teamwork skills as this was essential for a good quality audit. I learnt a lot of new technical skills, such as using Excel functions and audit documentation.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

It's well structured in that we do a placement each academic year after first year. This means we can learn the theory during term time and then apply it to an actual audit during placement.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The support I received throughout my placement was excellent. There were a lot of people I could go to if I had concerns/general questions - such as the Flying Start Champions, my career coach and my buddy. I also got a lot of support from senior members in my team.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I don't have a training provider since I do my exams at university rather than whilst on placement, but I receive support at the office whenever I have to do any academic work as everyone is very understanding and helpful.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think it's very useful to be able to learn the theory and then be able to apply it to a real world setting. I also received a lot of coaching/training on-the-job, which was also helpful and made me produce higher quality work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes - there are sports events and socials throughout the year and there are People networks, which are similar to societies at university. These networks also have socials within them, so it's nice to be able to spend time outside of work with different groups of people.

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think PwC provides great opportunities for career progression and the culture is very welcoming and diverse. It was a much friendlier atmosphere than I expected and it's easy to network with more senior members such as senior managers, directors and partners.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
Be honest in your application and don't feel intimidated. It's a great place to work if you want to learn/develop your skills and build a good network of people with a lot of knowledge and experience.
