Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I perform different financial tasks across multiple sites around europe. As part of my team we look after 14 sites across europe for tasks such as month end reconciliations and netting, as well as looking after multiple uk sites for operation tasks such as error correction reports and on holds
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the program a lot. i still feel like i learn and improve at my role every single day which means it never feels repetitive or boring. By also working with such a vast amount of other teams and customers it keeps interactions high and feels like it brings new tasks and opportunities each day.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I had no experience going into the role since i finished my college a levels, so it was all pretty new to me. since then i have completed AAT L2 studies and am now working on L3. Alongside this i have learnt a lot of new skills through the daily work i complete, such as working with a broad range of customers, using excel and also the different financial tools and systems we use.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The program has been very well structured since i started, joining with a full learning plan and tracker so i can follow my first months progress carefully and track all my progress. this set me up well for the role and since then all the team have delegated tasks and roles so i know the structure of my work deeply.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I feel i received a lot of support from my employer during the course of my apprenticeship. It feels they genuinely invest into you and want to see you succeed. We have quarterly meetings to align our goals and ambitions for the year. i also feel i could reach out to a number of people for support within the company and i'd never be afraid of being ignored or not getting help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
The training provider to be totally honest has been hit or miss. we have had some issues across all finance apprentices within the business but we have raised them with cummins and they are working towards making improvements based on the feedback they are getting. The training provider isnt bad by any stretch i just feel they could do more to support their students.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The qualification ahs massively helped within my role since starting. it has provided me financial knowledge that i previously didn't have before i started. A lot of this knowledge then crosses over with the work i complete, such as double entry bookkeeping, which helps me gain a deeper understanding of 'what' and 'why' i do what i do.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
To my knowledge there aren't any extra curricular activities such as sports teams within my work. However we do complete 4 hours of EEEC a year which helps you meet new people and work with them while giving back to the local community. We also try to go out as part of team around Christmas etc but that tends to just be the people within my own team, rather than a wider event.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Cummins to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have previously recommended Cummins to a friend as part of a placement year while they completed their university studies and they thoroughly enjoyed it to the point they are coming back after this year. I deeply believe in the work Cummins do with their apprentices/placements/internships from seeing it first hand and i would completely recommend the business to friends in the future.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Cummins?
The best advice i could give is to do some research into the business. Cummins is a huge global company with around 80,000 employees in over 170 countries so the opportunities are endless. The business however loves people who work for them because they enjoy it and believe in the work they are doing. I'd recommend doing research and finding something you really have a passion for as that will get you far within the business.
