Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work in a supported living accommodation with 5 PWS with different care needs. My main responsibilities are to provide safe environment for all these people according to individual needs and care through their support plan. These varies from day to day as some days are more hectic than other especially with less staff but overall a very rewarding job knowing that someone is happy and you’re part of that.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoyed what I do from the very beginning but have gain more experience and confidence as I get along with it. It has given me the opportunity to learn more about myself by learning to know how be my best whenever I get the opportunity to help others by way of encouragement.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I think health and social care suit my personality as I give more to others than myself so it didn’t that me long to fall in love with the job. I have also learned to be more patient through all the various training I have received. It has made me more confident than I am before too.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I can’t even put a word to describe how organised these program is, I was so overwhelmed when I first started as everything looks new to me, but as time goes on I have realised how systematic the program was because everything that seems to overwhelm me is now taught.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I have a full support from my employer as they give me the opportunity to be where I am now, the management team and all the lead managers are in full support and proud of my enthusiasm and commitment to learn and to be part of the team. I feel so blessed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Amazing that all I can say. My training providers have done well by giving me a tutor who is so humble and believes in me that I can do it. Her encouragement and systematic approach has helped my development from day one. I am much more confident now than when I started the program.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The practicality of how the program is presented to me in the first place helps me to understand how to do things better on the job. What I’m learning and understanding has given me confidence to apply to the job that I do. And I have only just started.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Apart from the functional skills in maths and English which I need to be able to achieve this qualification, I do attend conferences relating to social care, wellbeing sessions from other providers and sometimes fitness club from our enterprise.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend United Response to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Well, it’s giving opportunity to learn more about myself and to make a career out of it in the future if I continue to contribute and commit to their course.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to United Response?
The only advice I have is don’t be scared to learn news things. I used to work in grocery industry for over a decade and went up the ladder too but I felt that I was still not satisfied in what I was doing because I was unfulfilled and knew there’s something more to give.
