Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Supporting individuals to live an independent lifestyle, to safeguard them from harm and abuse, report concerns, support individuals to seek help from medical professionals when needed. I support individuals to access their community, going out on shopping trips and supporting them with their finances whilst they are out in the community.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I am really enjoying the programme I am on because I have developed a lot through my leadership skills and learning how to deal wit’s conflict. I have developed my leadership skills through working with external agencies to support person centred outcomes and support well-being for the individual I support.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed new skills through my apprenticeship where I am able to support my team to develop their skills through my leadership skills, this involved supervisions and appraisals and team meetings. I have learnt about different theories within health and social care and how to apply them to my role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I feel that the programme I am on it very well structured I like the structure of the units, completing the professional discussions and then learning for the next unit. I have enjoyed doing research tasks to support my learning and development and ensuring I have the knowledge to complete my course.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
I don’t receive a lot of support from my employer really, I have to ask for support from my line manager and she is willing to help me but the registered manager hasn’t supported me at all unfortunately. I have managed to do a lot of research and learning on my own with approval of completing supervisions etc from my line manager.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My training provider has been very helpful throughout my course, by TDO has always replied to any emails or messages when I have asked for any support on certain areas and she has always been understanding of any issues I have come across. Overall I think the support from realise training has been helpful.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think it has definitely helped me within my role and because I am upskilling in certain leadership areas I will be able to apply these to my next role which I am hoping to be a care coordinator or line manager for a different company which will be supporting of this.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
Unfortunately there aren’t any extra curricular activities at my work to get involved in, there was an open day for the company where all service users and staff had a chance to meet one another but apart from that there haven’t been any other sort of opportunities for me.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Westminster Homecare Ltd to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend a friend because the pay is very good in comparison to local companies, the service users are a delight to work with and the days are never the same which makes work very exciting. My line manager is quite helpful and always willing to help me with any questions
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Westminster Homecare Ltd?
I would say that you should highlight your areas of strengths and show your willingness to learn as there are a lot of policies and regulations that you need to be aware of within the care industry. Do not over work yourself as there can be many long hours of work so if you are feeling a certain way then use your supervisions to explain this.
