My role is shift manager, I am responsible for the shift that I work running smoothly and efficiently. It is my role to resolve any issues that arise on my shifts and if i can't fix them, then I need to escalate it to an assistant manager who has the correct training and expertise.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme had its tough moments but that's the same with any job/learning environment. It helps to have a mixture of on and off the floor training to help break it down. Overall it was a good experience. As they go at your pace and not rush you through it as they want you to be ready for the end point assessment.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have always been a people person but whilst doing this apprenticeship it's made me more comfortable to deal with difficult conversations in a professional manner. The crew approach me more with the difficult conversation as I am more understanding as I've had a difficult up bringing which better suits me for the conversations which I am upfront about with the crew

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It was well organised. I just had a few trainers/coaches which was hard to try and create a friendly bond with especially when you are just getting thrown around from trainer to trainer.
The class based activies was good, it's a shame that most of it is videos as just felt like I was being supervised to watch videos rather than learning from the trainer.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer schedule time to complete the apprenticeship and still get paid and also schedule 3 monthly check-ins to see my progress with the apprenticeship. It was great to see that they cared about my training and development.
They ensured that we would pretty much do it together so if there was anything I got stuck on they could potentially help as well which was a nice feeling

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We just have monthly check-ins and then given more tasks to go through. Didn't really feel that they were trainers as such as it was mainly my employer helping me reach the end point assessment stage.
When you reach that stage they then seem to care. Probably because the results I get from that reflects on them

We always try ensure we are cutting costs and electric to help aid the global warming crisis where we definitely can and help support other businesses in doing the same

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We do 3 monthly crew events where we all pick a place to go and get evolved and interact with each other out of the work setting. We then have a massive Christmas party where we cover stores and store cover us so everyone can go out and party the night away

Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Mcdonalds is a caring and friendly employer. Who pays you the same as anyone else who isn't doing the apprenticeship. Most employers take a apprentice on to cut down on costs but mcdonalds invest in its people and wants to keep them even after their apprenticeship. This is a good employer to work for
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
Be yourself, don't change for anyone. Be out going and friendly and you'll fit right in.
Mcdonalda is fair across the whole board, and if you have any issues then there is always a people manager who is on the end of a phone or e-mail waiting to help with any situation in a unbiased way
