Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
My day to day basis involves...
- Stripping down engines ready for rebuilt.
- Identifying engine defects
- Repairing engines
- Cleaning/organising parts
- Preparing new engines by matching them to customers specification.
When stripping engines, we make note of any defects we find as this is vital information when it comes to rebuilding. To get an engine ready for a rebuild, all needed parts are identified and we clean the parts that can be reused.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I have gained a lot of mechanical knowledge and sympathy.
I learnt a lot on how engines work, along with the roles each engine part plays.
I have learnt about the behaviour of electricity and many different electrical components and the safety they can bring to wiring. Also how to complete different electrical circuits and their uses.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?
The college tutors at Tresham are fantastic and cannot do enough.
