Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Support and Guidance

More than expected from a big corporate. I had some personal struggles through my placement that were dealt with professionally but with empathy.
I had monthly reviews for progress and for any questions, opportunities to explore other sectors.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
8/10, I would say the overall culture is beneficial for development.
There were company wide christmas parties, period end events, charity events and sponsorships, local community outreach, cultural events (international womens day, lgbtq+ history month, black history month)
Perhaps what was missing is leisure/sports clubs but there was not particular demand.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I cannot think of many improvements at all. My placement has helped developed me professionally and personally and I could not be more grateful.
The work is rewarding emotionally, because there is genuine opportunity to change careers.
Financially, the base salary could be better - I do not receive commission as an intern which feels strange as in every other way I am treated as permanent staff.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Hays to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to Hays
Come prepared with questions about parts of the role you do and don't like.
Management are very honest and like intelligent, inquisitive questions.
Recruitment is not necessarily a difficult role, you just have to have drive and effort to make it a success.
The company believes in upskilling people and promoting them rather than bringing in outside hires, so coming in at a low level is beneficial
