Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Responsibilities vary from placement to placement. Current project engineering placement involves regular meeting with stakeholders including contractors, and internal operational staff. May be responsible for submitting design packages to relevant discipline engineers for review. Organisation of site inspections.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my programme very much as the work is fulfilling and challenging, and there is a good balance of learning between theory taught at university, and the experience gained through day to day tasks completed at work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have gained experience in communicating with internal and external stakeholders, which has improved my confidence in working in teams.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is structured very well with a clear support framework in place consisting of placement managers, line managers, and mentors. It is clear what is expected of you as an apprentice and how to prepare towards your end point assessment.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I feel very supported by employer as there is a great support framework in place. You are assigned a line manager, placement manager and mentor, with whom you will have regular one to one meetings with to check up on your welfare and progress.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
The training provider delivers content through in person lectures. We are assessed through a combination of exams and coursework. It is clear who you should seek support from.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
As I have progressed in my apprenticeship, the relevance of my qualification has become increasingly clear through the projects I have been assigned to. The concepts taught at university have helped me to better understand the requirements of projects at work and how they can be met.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
As the organisation is quite large, there are plenty of activities to get involved in if you wish. Groups are well organised and easy to find via the company intranet.
