Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am a shift manager, I am food safety leader and I am the safety and security leader. I am in charge of cash handling, the daily running of our restaurant, overseeing the staff, planning and executing a well ran shift to provide the best experience for our customers and for our staff.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoyed all of it even though I struggled in some parts. I would recommend the apprenticeship to any one as it is a good opportunity for them to learn and do things that they wouldn’t normally do. I learnt so many new things and also tried things for the first time.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt how to plan effectively and I have also learned how to work under pressure, stick to time commitments for completing tasks, how to deal with customer complaints ranging from being easy fixes up to big mistakes. I have also learned that everyone makes mistakes and it’s ok as long as you learn from them.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It was structured very well and someone was always at hand to help although I exceeded the time limits due to my own personal reasons, the team were very supportive and made sure I was ready to move on to the next steps as and when it was right for me to do so.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My franchise was incredibly supportive of me doing the apprenticeship and was also very supportive in terms of the time I needed to do it ensuring that the schedule fitted around my needs to complete tasks and also by checking in with me to see if I needed any additional support
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I received endless amounts of support, there was always someone on hand to help me whenever I needed it, even if it was over the phone. The communication from the training provider was second to none and I couldn’t of asked for a better coach to have been by my side.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The training provided had helped me in so many ways, from food safety knowledge even outside of work, right down to the hospitality section of it it terms of dealing with customers and any issues that they have. It grew my confidence every time o gained more knowledge and experience
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, we do activity days, but we have to take it turns as the store still needs to function, we also do charity fundraising days, we have just completed a 22.6 mile walk for our house charity Ronald McDonald House Charity which so far has raised £633

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
People think there is a stigma attached to the job, it’s a good job for learning knew skills, even if it’s just your diet job after leaving school, the experience and opportunities that McDonald’s offer are different to any other job I have done and I’m proud I work there
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
Just be yourself and take it all in. It really is a lot to learn but the benefits are worth it in the long run. Progression is amazing, I have seen so many people build up the skills they never thought they would and worked their way up the chain
