Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work for three teams in the internal security service at PwC, two allocated, one voluntarily. In these teams I assist with regulation, cloud based migrations and assisting with securing vulnerabilities that the firm may face internally.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy it immensely, the skills I have learned, the opportunities it is affording me both currently and down the line are like none I have ever been offered before. Not to mention the people both my colleagues in the office and my peers and teachers within college are all, welcoming kind and exceptional.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned a multitude of programs and skills, such as the basics of cloud computing, data manipulation and data presentation. I have also received an invaluable education in how best to conduct myself in a corporate environment.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I think the program is well organised, in my branch of the program I am given the opportunity to swap between internal and client facing roles every six months which allows me to have the largest exposure to the internal workings of the company and therefore gain the most experience.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from almost every direction at work, I have received consistent support through my career coaches, as well as members of my teams that have taken a very active and vested interest in my career progression. Any thing that I am not sure of I will definitely be able to ask and receive a helpful response to.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
We receive a lot of support from the training provider, the lecturers give a lot of support and are all very friendly, welcoming, personable and knowledgeable about their given subjects. The course structure is broken down well, though initially it was a bit overwhelming for those without a technical background.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think my degree does assist me in my role, while studying at college we were learning about cloud computing which did massively assist in my role learning about cloud migration with the migration team. However in my role there is not a huge demand for coding that the qualification provides a large education for, this however could be more relevant to others
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
I personally do not get engaged in extra-curricular activities due to out of work commitments however I am aware of a large number of extra-curricular activities that my colleagues have become involved in and find them to be very rewarding and good networking opportunities to progress their careers and friendships

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I went to university prior to this degree apprenticeship and given a second chance I would have done a similar program to this one instead. The starting salary, the fully paid for university degree, the chance to work for one of the big four and a chance to get hands on experience working in one of the fastest growing industries in the world is something I could not help to recommend.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
I would say that you should have an open mind, be confident and willing to work as hard as you can. I would do your best to research the company and try and familiarise yourself with as many programs as you can, to arm yourself with the tools to stand out and succeed
