Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role consists of keeping customers happy and satisfied with their order and making sure the food they are receiving is fresh. I also keep on top of cleaning and making sure stock is placed in the correct places and is full at all times to help with a faster service and good quality of products.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy my programme and if I was to give it a rate it’d be a good 8.5/10. There can be difficult situations such as not receiving enough time or the amount of time needed off the floor but other than that it’s great it gives you a good understanding of hospitality and the surrounding areas in hospitality and also helps you understand the programme itself and how it works.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
New skills I have learnt over the coming year are how to be good with leadership consisting of running kitchen or being area leader, I have developed good understanding of working in a team but also working individually on your own throughout a busy shift and also more confident in speaking to customers whether it’s a complaint and how to deal with it or even receiving their order.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme I’m working on is well organised, it helps you by having the work in sections, and also gives you an option to click on undone work that may be overdue that you may have missed so that you are ahead instead of behind in your programme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I do personally receive support by few employers who ask how my work is going and how much I have progressed since the beginning. Only trouble is getting time of the floor or knowing which area leaders will allow you time to have off the floor to complete work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
If I’m completely honest I do receive great support from my training provider and they help me build the confidence I need for my end point assessment and also help me get a good understanding of where I need to be in my programme. They also set targets for me to complete which I prefer as it keeps me busy.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualifications help me mainly for the pure fact I’m working in the hospitality business itself so it helps me understand the key features such as speedy service and great quality and also the products I use in a day to day basis that come under hospitality itself such as beverages (fizzy/ hot or ice drinks).
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are indeed extra curricular activities at my work such as McDonald’s football club which consists of football matches across the McDonald’s organisations in the UK and battle for trophies. We also have charity events we can participate in where we can go help raise money for Ronald’s McDonald’s house charity and help families that are in need.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have recommended the apprenticeship to a few crew members who have taken on the opportunity as it builds a better understanding of the hospitality organisation as a whole and not just the individual hospitality environment you work in yourself, so I would 100% recommend to a friend as it’s a great start towards your future career especially if you are not sure where you’ll be in 10 years.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
If you need help, ask. Don’t be scared and you do have a few people behind you supporting you no matter what, such as your programme provider leader.
