Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work front of house, i serve customers, i make drinks, i take out food and iorders, I clean toilets and make sure the pub in general is clean and tidy. I give the best customer service I can so that people have a positive experience and come back in the future
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I always enjoy learning and love new experiences so to be learning more about a job I am already passionate about is exciting and I would definitely recommend an apprenticeship to many of my friends. It is great that the expenses are covered and I like that it isn't just aimed at my workplace, its hospitality as a whole

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, I have developed my time management skills, listening and speaking skills, and I am always working on my customer service skills. I have also been working on how to deal with my adhd in the work place which has been very helpful with all other skills needed for this job

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
At the start I didn't feel it was very organised but that is because of issues beyond our control, since I have a new learning coach and regular meetings I feel it is very well organised and I am very much looking forward to completing it and seeing what other opportunities there are
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
A lot in the terms of helping me with questions I'm struggling with or how to put words from my head onto paper, but time wise it isn't great. I need a little extra support but after speaking with my learning coach I will hopefully have some time freed up
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I received a lot of support from my training provider, I am receiving extra help with adhd and after speaking with my learning coach I am getting f extra help with things like reminders so I don't get behind. I feel very confident when working now and know I have support there when I need it
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
As it isn't all about wetherspoons and is about hospitality in general, it is helping me a lot with policies I wasn't aware of. I am learning things about customer service in a way I haven't been show before and that is helping me a lot. I am better at dealing with customers etc
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, we are always looking for ideas on how to raise money for our chosen charity. It is often left to us to organise an event and we also do things like tough mudder as a group again to raise money for our chosen charity. Last year I organised a charity event for the pubs birthday and we made nearly £200

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JD Wetherspoon to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend jd wetherspoon to a friend because I have made a lot of friends working here and the benefits of working here are very good. Shifts work around me and my son, I don't have to worry about any of that and the pay is above minimum wage with added bonuses
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JD Wetherspoon?
Advice I would give is be prepared to be busy and warm, over summer it can be extremely busy and when it is short staffed it can be very difficult to deal with. Always speak to managers if you are having a difficult time as this can also help as they are willing to listen
