Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My current role is shift manager, I am expected to run stations and areas within our restaurant. Daily tasks include checking clocks cash handling and managing staff. I serve customers and handle complaints any customers may have. I work with a team of other managers higher and lower than myself help to run our restaurant efficiently.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have enjoyed my programme. Up to now there have been a few confusing moments during my time and I have had to ask for help, but most of the time it has been enjoyable and I have learned more about the restaurant as a result of the learning programme and information in it.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Since starting my apprenticeship, my restaurant has had a refurb. Whilst my restaurant was closed, I worked at a new delivery shop that was the first to open in our area along with a new shop. There were new procedures to follow and learn about. Some of the new procedures have since been included in our restaurant since reopening.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is structured well. I do find at times that maybe it could be more specific to the business I am currently in as it seems sometimes that the tasks are maybe set for small companies.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer has been very supportive with in the apprenticeship. I am not the only member of staff taking on an apprenticeship there are a few others also this has helped ad we have kind of all helped each other of anyone is stuck we do have different coaches for the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have spoken to my training provider a few times and when I have spoken to them they have been very supportive. I have had to rearrange a session unexpectedly and my training provider allowed me to do so. My training provider also talked me through a few things I was unsure of which made me feel comfortable completing the tasks.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Whilst going through the apprenticeship I am starting to look at the bigger business picture rather than just my current role. I’m learning about things on the background that i would never of thought about like projections I knew they were there but never thought about how they were worked out.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Currently we don’t have a lot of extra activities. We do plan mini events like helping our communities by doing trash walks. This ties in with our live where you live campaign. We have an upcoming crew event which happens twice a year and it includes our other restaurants within our franchise.

Why?
McDonald’s is a great place to work. I think it helps build confidence. It’s a place where no one day is the same and you are constantly learning in a fast paced environment. McDonald’s is a great company to work for. When any type of availability is needed, we have a wide variety of people and as a team can achieve any tasks given.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
It’s a great place to work. Promotions are always available and all help and training is provided to help make the promotions achievable. A place like McDonald’s helps build confidence and life skills. Pay at my current store is more than minimum wage. This kind of job can be a long term one or even filling in a gap, but overall a great place to work.
