Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
During my shift I am responsible for looking after my crew ensuring they are completing all correct tasks and following all procedures properly. I get delegated tasks by managers that I need to complete throughout my shift. I am also responsible for completing training on new crew and completing there training log
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
I found the programme a little bit of a struggle. There was lots of miscommunication and difficulty in completing tasks after my first coach left. I felt a little bit left behind and confused in everything I had to complete. Once it was all sorted out the programme was ok

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
2/5
During my apprenticeship I have learnt lots of new skills. How to complete the weekly shake machine clean how to count up and cash up tills. I’ve developed my confidence in running a shift and looking after crew. I’ve learned lots of new procedures and how to implement that into the shift

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The structure was fairly straightforward. When it got to my end of apprenticeship assessments and tests it become very difficult to work out what to do the websites for testing were confusing and I felt like I was waiting for zoom and telephone calls for every meeting not knowing what to do
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I received a lot of support from my employer my apprentice manager was very useful in McDonald’s she always made sure when I was confused that things were being sorted out and when I was having issues she made sure to speak to the business manager and she got it sorted
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
I received barely any support I was due monthly meetings and barely received them then got told off when I was behind with all of my work. Quite a lot of the time I was left confused on a task and unable to ask for help as would take days to receive an answer
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think the qualification has helped me perform better as it has enhanced my ability to run a station knowing how things work in more detail. It has helped me gain confidence as I had to do lots of on the floor work correct coaching people and training new crew.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
There is a mccup work football team that was offered however I didn’t want to join it. Mid June work has planned a bbq which we are all invited to to bond and have fun with our big team of crew. Other than that we aren’t provided with other activities

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think it’s a very first job when taken seriously. It sets you up to go into life with so many different skills. Being able to take cash payments, customer service, handling chemicals and food safety procedures. It’s a fun community and everyone is a young age and fun to get along with
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
My advice when starting at McDonald’s is to go in with an open mind. Although it being most people’s first job it’s so important to take it seriously as you are still serving the public and ensuring you are following procedures is important. Be willing to learn
